Here's a larger version of an avatar I just finished for my very good friend Squeakie (from another site), featuring a Big Brown Bat and some cake!! Mmmmmmm caaaake!!
I had originally planned more for this piece (a common problem of mine)... The eyes were supposed to dart around like a hyper chameleon's and then focus forward as the cake appeared. I also wanted the popping thought bubble to be more fluid and billowy... The frame count was getting way out of hand though, and I ended up having to cut the avatar's color palette in half (in order to keep the file size below the required 25 KB limit).
Photo reference for the cake came from cookiemadness.net (the original photo was of a slice of carrot cake).
EDIT - I inadvertently discovered that this image runs very slowly when viewed with "Internet Explorer".
After a little reading, it seems that this is actually a problem with IE6 (and possibly higher) and not the animation itself (as it runs perfectly in "Opera", "Netscape", "Firefox", my extremely outdated image viewing software, and I'm sure "Safari").
The kicker is that most people still use IE, so for most people this image will run slowly...
I'm hoping that I can find a solution for this little annoyance... In the meantime I suggest viewing the image with something other than Microsoft brand software.
Oh internet... It's always compatibility issues with you...
The tongue was actually Squeakie's idea (the bat didn't have it in my original drawing). It certainly does add to the cuteness factor, and is a nice additional splash of color!
Beautiful little drawing. I just saw it through a link on Duo Radon's journal. Also, just thought I'd mention this. I use IE7 and Opera and the animation seems to be playing about the same speed for me in both. That slowed playing issue might just be a problem with older versions of IE starting with 6 and going backfrom there.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

I am open for commissions: [link]
Good to know. From what I recall reading, it's an issue with IE6 and I believe IE8b... so I wasn't sure if it effected 7 or not.
